Classified ads, when precisely placed, are a great way to get people to your site. Better yet, they get targeted people, meaning customers who are pre-disposed towards your product or service.
Headline - The headline is equivalent to the subject of an email (at least conceptually). It is the first thing that a person will see, and it is often the ONLY thing that someone looks at. If your title or headline is bad, then you almost guarantee that you will get few, if any responses. A good headline, on the other hand, will cause people to want to read your ad immediately.
Benefit Driven - Give your reader the benefits of your product or service fast and quickly. Why do they want to give you money? If this is clear in your mind, you should be able to easily quantify it for your audience.
Action words - Make sure your advertisement is action oriented. Tell your audience to do something. "Buy a hammer", "click here", "save money" are all action phrases.
Length - Keep your ad short and to the point. People get tired of reading advertisement quickly and will often stop reading before you expect them too (this is also a reason to be sure your main message is first in the ad text). Besides, ads are typically charged by the word, so less words means less money spent.
