Bulk Email

Bulk email can be a very effective way to get the word out about something you want to sell. However, out of all of the advertising techniques I've discussed, this is probably the most fraught with risks.

The line between spam and legitimate bulk email is very thin, and many people do not care about the legal technicalities. If they get an email from you they did not request, you may risk alienating them forever.

If you perform bulk email from your ISP, they may cancel you for spamming. If you are indeed spamming, you might even be open for legal trouble.

There are good ways, however, to send out bulk emails (besides using your own newsletter). Many companies are offering a service to web surfers - "we'll pay you to read email". This is actually a pretty cool idea, and it allows bulk emails to be sent with the agreement of the web user. Many of these services require the reader to click a link to be paid, thus encouraging traffic to your site. Whether that traffic will result in purchases ... well, that's a different story.

Personally, I have not taken advantage of any of these services as I have found it's too easy to get free advertising all over the web. Why pay for it when there are so many opportunities available?

Here are a few bulk email companies that you can check out.
