Google's Search Options

You can use any of the following options to refine your search in various ways.

Option Purpose
allintitle: Use this option to find pages which have the search terms within the titles. For example, "allintitle:tom jones" will find all sites with "tom" and "jones" in the title.
allinurl: If you want to only find pages with the search terms actually within the URL, then this is your option.
cache:url This shows the version of the URL that Google has in it's cache.
daterange:range Restrict the date range searched for to the specific Julian date range. Visit the following site: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/JulianDate.html for a Julian date converter. For example, "daterange:2452511- 2452511 would find all documents with a date of August 25th, 2002.
filetype:type Restrict searches to the specified file type.
info:url You can use this option to show a page which shows information about the URL, including back links, related searches and pages containing the URL.
intitle: This is similar to "allintitle" except it only applies to the single search term following.
inurl: This is similar to "allinurl" except it only applies to the single search term following.
link:url This option lists all of the pages which Google has found which have links to the URL.
related:url Use this option to see all of the pages which are related to the URL. This is the same as the "What's related" section on the search engine results pages.
spell: Does not do a search - performs a spell check.
stocks: Allows you to look up the search terms in a stock index.

AND Include between terms to indicate that both must be present.
OR This indicates that one term or the other may be present. Both are not necessary.
+ Include this in front of a term to indicate it MUST be included in the page. For example, "+tom jones" means "tom" must be on the page, but "jones" is optional.
- This means the term must NOT be on the page. "-tom jones" searches for pages without "tom" but with "jones".
"phrase" Enclose it in quotes to specify an exact phrase.
